  • According to statistics recently published by the Selig Center for Economic Growth, grandparents spend approximately $4.5 billion per year on toys alone - usually for their grandchildren. This spending trend is expected to continue increasing.

  • In a recent poll on men's need for balance, 75% of the working fathers said they would trade rapid career advancement for more time with their children. This same poll also noted that the number of fathers present at their children's births has risen from 27% in 1974 to 90% today.

  • According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women currently make up 49% of the U.S. workforce and that number is rapidly increasing. At Raley's Family of Fine Stores, women make up 53% of our workforce.

  • According to statistics published in the December 2007 issue of HR Magazine, by the year 2020, 16 percent of the U. S. population will be age 65 and over; up from 12 percent in 1999. This age group, known as the "Greatest Generation," comprises about 6.5 percent of the workforce - some in higher management positions, some acting as consultants, and others in part-time positions that enable them to earn extra money to supplement retirement income.

  • As of July 30, 2008 Asians, Hispanic, African Americans, American Indians and other ethnic groups make up 32.4 percent of Raley's Family of Fine Stores current overall workforce, with Hispanics comprising 18% of our workforce.

  • According to a recent article on diversity in the retail industry written by DiversityInc Magazine, one solution to help reduce turnover is to recruit and cater to the needs of employees age 55 and older, which will make up 41 percent of the work force by 2014.

  • According to statistics presented at a recent Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Workplace Conference & Exposition, Hispanics outspend other Americans on average weekly groceries by 35%.

  • According to statistics published in Diversity Inc Magazine, the total buying power of African Americans in the United States is $761 billion.

  • According to the U.S. Census Bureau, of the 23 million people working in the retail industry, 49% of retail employees are female.

  • As of the end of the 2nd Quarter of FY 08 (12/31/07), our records indicate that females make up 55% of the current workforce at Raley's Family of Fine Stores.
